for the show I'm doing in Oct., starting a little painting that may be in the show if I get it done in time, that job hunting thing, and finishing up the organizing of crap I have scattered about.
All in all,a day like any other.

HEY KIDS! ART SUPPLIES!

Doing it old school style !
"But Patty !", you ask,"What about that way cool
Bamboo tablet, and Photoshop, Illustrator programs you have on your way cool huge MAC computer?"
Well sure sonny boy, that's all great stuff..but NOTHING compares to the feel of a finely crafted pencil in your hand and you watch it glide over your bristol board ,oh so smoothly. Then dip that fresh crow quill into the snappy ink bottle and see it flow like an ocean wave over your line work. Smell the ink, and pencil shavings, the ritual of eraser clean ups, flicking the crumbs onto the floor, sharpen your pencil over and over again for that pristine razor sharp point, blow on the board to hasten the white out drying over that rare mistake you may make....
It's all good , it's all part of the feeling that you really, REALLY MADE that!

The search for that perfect pencil or nib goes on with every visit to an art supply store. Any city you are in, you have to see their local store ,to see if there is a new discovery to be found.
Peruse websites, catalogs for the latest and greatest ,cuz you never know what you might find.

I still have my favorite brushes, the odd pencil, ellipse and paint from art school. Relics mostly unusable, but good friends to the end.

I'm looking...

...and I think I can see some family resemblance. Maybe if we shaved off
the beard we'd see the long Leidy chin..(hee hee).

I am the anomaly in the family I suppose.
Though some would disagree, and my obsession with dinosaurs may have some heritage in it, on the whole
I don't see my extreme branch/twig of the family tree garnering acclaim for my wacky drawings and glowing things.

I'm a just sayin's all....

At the risk of embarrassing myself, I present to you a little treasure trove from my
portfolio of comics past, my salute to DRAGON CON.
A Sci-Fi,comics,what not bacchanalian orgy of geekery that takes place once a year
in Atlanta. I was a guest there every year,up til I moved away in 2001 to Denver.
Please keep in mind that I was younger, rawer, and already wonderfully jaded.

They are a little wonky. I had to scan from old xeroxes I found.
(by the by,the original pages (whoever would WANT such things), are for sale. $200 each.)

ummm.yeah....I also post these in honor of all my pals that seem to be jetting off to Atlanta in the next week or so for this years Dragon Con. I hear there are gonna be some killer guests. ( well, sans ME..but...you'll still enjoy yourselves..tee hee)

TODAY...

is National Cupcake Day. So you owe it to yourself to grab a cuppycake and
smile!
I hear by decree D bar desserts to have the best cupcakes I have found ,so far, IN Denver.
So get yer buns over there!

Also the Denver cupcake truck might be prowling around the city still. SO that's another good cupcake source.

Oh NOS!

Whew! Big project finally finished! Great results seen , umm by the holidaze.
Now onto even bigger things. Namely,Dog wood cutouts to be painted. Only a few left to go
for my show in Oct. YAAA!

So in cleaning out some shelves in my studio I came across some "comic a day" diaries I was keeping
during the "dark days of Patty". Some I still find amusing, or telling of my state of mind during that time.
Some I ended up using for my Zero Hour stuff for the dailies development I was working on last year.
I think some are worthy of an amusing revisit here so in the next few days I shall be running selected strips
for your perusal, enjoyment, and criticism of my bad spelling habits and primitive fast drawing techniques.

But seriously all my nieces and nephews have all gone onto ,or are on their way to
great edu-ma-cation. Seems its all either Georgia Tech, or well Notre Dame!
(makes it a bit nuts when there's a ND vs. GT game though)
So I'm pretty dang proud of my braine-ack family.

I think it's from a weird angle I tend to sink into when I'm working on the computer..so mindfulness
has to come into play here if I intend to have any semblance of functionality left of my upper body when
this is all over.. hee hee
